13 Signs To 12 Months

I’ve always been really involved in Astrology, Tarot and other methods of divination.
Recently, I viewed a program on Discovery (yet again!) that threw my idea of Astrology a bit out of whack.

We have always been told that the Zodiac *the stars that we can see in the Night Sky all year round* is made up of 12 constellations (westerners). We’ve neatly associated these with each month of the year, explaining attributes of a person born under that sign due to the sun being aligned with that constellation for the month.
But the truth is that there are in fact 13 constellations in the Zodiac, not 12.

The lesser known constellation of Ophiuchus ‘the serpent bearer’ is not recognised in modern Astrology.
It stays visible for 18 days from Nov 30th to Dec 18th, between Scorpio and Sagittarius. So if you were born between these dates, you are forced to have Scorpio or Sagittarian traits from an astrological point of view.
I still put a lot of stock into Astrology, as a lot of the time you can relate people to their ‘Sun Sign’ and get their attributes spot on. I would be interested to know if people born within these dates actually attribute their own character traits to either of these signs…!
